Published: September 27, 2012

The Ferndale boys' tennis team lost to Sedro-Woolley 4-3 in a Northwest Conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Sedro-Woolley.

"We competed and improved every set," Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola said in a phone interview. "We just fell a little short. It could have went either way with the number of three-setters we had today."

Ferndale's Taylor Walton defeated Charlie Rutherford 6-1, 6-3 in the second singles and Nate Fallis defeated Ray Uzunoy 4-6, 6-2, 12-10 in the fourth singles.

"Nate really picked up his game. He had some good lengthly rallies," Vendiola said. "Taylor Walton also stepped up and played a strong game getting a quick win."

Rafe Stanage earned the third win for the Golden Eagles defeating Hector Brandt 6-2, 7-5 in the third singles.

Ferndale fell to 0-9, 0-9 and will host Anacortes on Friday, Sept. 28.
