The Sehome boys' tennis team defeated Bellingham 6-1 in a Northwest Conference boys' tennis match on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Bellingham.
"Sehome is a really good team. I congratulate them," Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. "We have gained some ground since the last time we played them. We had a lot more matches that were close. They are just a very good team."
The Mariners won all of the singles sets and were led by Avery West, who defeated Charlie Carmichael 6-0, 6-0 in the first singles match.
Auden Schilder and E.J. Troutman earned Bellingham's win by defeating Jason Newell and Andrew Bruce 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the first doubles match.
"We are happy with Schilder and Troutman's win," Chronister said. "They turned the corner on the second set. I was also pleased with Connor Thompson's effort. It was a close competitive match."
Sehome improved to 12-1, 9-0 NWC and will play Squalicum on Wednesday, Sept. 28, while Bellingham (8-3, 7-2 NWC) hosts Sedro-Woolley.
