FERNDALE - Drivers can expect occasional lane restrictions on Main Street for several weeks starting Friday, Sept. 28, as city crews repair two failing sections of the street. The repairs could be finished in October.
The crews will work on two sinkholes, one near the City Hall entrance and the other near Hamlin Avenue. The City Hall sinkhole was caused by a failed sewer line that has since been repaired. City officials don't know what caused the sinking near Main and Hamlin.
Main Street will be open during the work, but the westbound lane will be closed. Traffic headed west will be able to use the center turn lane.
City officials waited until the holes settled fully before scheduling repairs.
