City Meet to feature top-three boys' showdown in 2A

Published: September 26, 2012

There were no changes atop the Class 2A boys' cross country poll released late Monday, Sept. 24, by the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association, and that means a top-three showdown at Lake Padden Park on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Squalicum remained in the top spot, followed by city rivals Sehome (No. 2) and Bellingham (No. 3). The three teams will hold their annual City Meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carpooling is encouraged for spectators, because parking at the park is expected to be limited.

The meet will also feature the top-ranked 2A girls' team, as Sehome retained that title in the fourth week. Bellingham also is ranked No. 5 in the girls' poll.

Meridian remained third in the 1A boys' poll, followed by No. 4 Lynden Christian. Meridian (No. 7), Lynden Christian (No. 9) and Mount Baker (No. 10) also stayed put in the 1A girls' poll.

Gig Harbor (4A), North Central (3A), Charles Wright (1A) and Colbert Northwest Christian (2B/1B) topped the boys' polls, while Bellarmine Prep (4A), Glacier Peak (3A), Nine Mile Falls Lakeside (1A) and Lacey Northwest Christian (2B/1B) were the top-ranked teams in their respective girls' polls.
