Seattle author Ivan Doig shares his new novel, "The Bartender's Tale," at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Village Books, 1200 11th St.
Set in a small Montana town in the 1960s, the novel is about a young boy living with his single father, the owner of a well-established tavern, The Medicine Lodge. More than a coming-of-age novel, Doig eloquently captures the sense of place and time as seen through the eyes of a boy trying to come to terms with perplexing adult behavior.
