BELLINGHAM - Police are looking for a suspect in a weekend assault that left a 29-year-old with a fractured jaw.

The victim was walking in the 1200 block of North State Street at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept 21, when a man he didn't know "sucker punched" him several times, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.

Nothing was stolen, but the victim was taken to St. Joseph hospital and treated for a fractured jaw.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8 white man weighing from 180 to 220 pounds, with short brown hair. He wore gray Adidas shoes, tan Dickies pants and a white baseball cap. No further description was available.

Young didn't know if the victim was walking alone, and wasn't sure which direction the suspect ran off.

Tips should be directed to the Bellingham Police Department at 360-778-8800. After hours, call 911.
