Recreational crab fishermen are reminded that their summer crab catch reports are due Oct. 1.
People are urged to file the reports as soon as possible because shellfish managers from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife use the data to help determine if and for how long there might be crabbing allowed during a winter crab season.
People who fail to file a report will have to pay a $10 penalty when they go to purchase 2013 license.
You can file your report online at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/crabreport. People using the online reporting system will need to use their WILD ID number to report your catch. Do not use your Social Security number.
Crabbers also can mail their catch record cards to CRC Unit, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia, WA 98501-1091.
