Bellingham's slow start too costly

Published: September 23, 2012

The Bellingham volleyball team started off slow and eventually fell 25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16 to non-conference opponent Sequim Saturday, Sept. 22, in Sequim.

"We didn't play our best volleyball today," Bellingham coach Kim Bjorklund said in a phone interview. "I think we were a bit out of our element with the new gym."

After dropping the first two sets, Bellingham rebounded to take the third, but Sequim dominated the fourth set to win the match.

Olivia Halverson led Bellingham with five kills, and Anna Zeegers had five aces and made 16 digs.

Bellingham (3-2, 2-1 NWC) hosts Blaine next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Bellingham High School.
