Webster scores twice, Sehome wins 3-0

Published: September 23, 2012

Emily Webster added two more goals to her league-leading total to lift the Sehome girls' soccer team to a 3-0 non-league matchup against Lynden Saturday, Sept. 22, at Northwest Soccer Park.

"Emily had another good game, and she is really starting to understand her new role," Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview.

Nikki Thon started the scoring in the eighth minute with a goal off a corner kick. Webster scored her first goal off an assist from Hanna Tarleton in the 44th minute, and four minutes later, Webster added her second goal on a great header off a corner kick from Mariners freshman Bryce Sherif.

Sehome keeper Rachel Albert earned her fourth shutout in a row, and Fountain said Alli Umbaugh's play on the back line had a lot to do with Lynden's inability to score.

The Mariners play Ferndale next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Civic Stadium, and Lynden faces Anacortes next at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Anacortes.
