Forward Brice Holiday scored three goals, leading University of Sioux Falls to a 3-1 win over Western Washington University on Saturday night, Sept. 22, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer game at the USF Sanford Sports Complex.

It was the first win of the season for the Cougars, who improved to 1-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.

The Vikings fell to 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the GNAC with their second loss following a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) at home.

Holiday gave USF a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, scoring on a free kick.

Less than three minutes later, WWU tied it at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Justin Moore, his third of the season.

Holiday put the Cougars ahead for good in the 77th minute, taking a cross from Ryan Keohane and depositing it in the right corner.

Holiday scored an insurance goal in the final minute on a breakaway with the net open. USF goalkeeper Kyle Simons, who made seven saves, got the assist.

WWU had a 16-14 edge in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The meeting was the first between the two schools.

The Vikings begin a five-game home stand against Saint Martin's University at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Orca Field on Whatcom Community College's campus.
