EMILY WEBSTER
School: Sehome
Sport: Girls' soccer
Year: Junior
Position: Midfielder
What she did: Emily scored three goals in the Mariners' 4-0 win against Anacortes on Tuesday, Sept. 18, and the only goal in a win against Squalicum on Thursday, Sept. 20. Coach Andria Fountain said she has worked with Webster to play as more of an attacking midfielder, as opposed to a center midfielder or defensive midfielder, to help the team make up for the loss of graduated seniors Jessica Bertucci and Madison Heilmann and their 30-plus goal output the past few seasons. Webster has responded well, scoring nine goals and two assists in Sehome's first seven games this season.
Coach's quote: "Emily is the perfect athlete that every coach wishes they had the opportunity to coach. She shows up at practice every day; she is on time, prepared and has a phenomenal work ethic. Emily has had an impact on this program since the day she arrived. She has started, and played almost every minute of every game since her freshman year." - Fountain
