Bret Rediger scored three touchdowns on his 18th birthday and helped lead the Nooksack Valley football team to a 55-16 non-conference win at Coupeville on Friday, Sept. 21.
Rediger caught two touchdowns passes and also rushed for a score as the Pioneers improved to 3-1 overall.
"It was fun for him to do that," Nooksack Valley coach Robb Myhre said in a phone interview. "We were able to do a lot of things successfully tonight. We had a lot of people get involved."
One of those was wide receiver Joey Scheffer who threw a touchdown pass from midfield to Rediger.
The Pioneers had no turnovers in the game and Myhre was pleased with the team's defensive effort.
"Defensively we did some good things," Myhre said. "We started off slow but got better throughout the game."
Up next for the Pioneers is Mount Baker (3-1) on Friday, Sept. 28, at Deming in an NWC Class 1A clash.
"We've got to have a good week to get better at what we do if we want to win," Myhre said of next week's game.
