The Lynden girls' swim team lost 92-71 to Archbishop Murphy in a non-conference meet on Thursday, Sept. 20, in Lynden.
"This was the best meet we have had this season," Lynden coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. "There were a lot of close races and almost every single time was their best time. There are a lot of new and young swimmers feeling out where they are."
Shelby Umbaugh won two events for the Lions, the 100 freestyle and the 50 freestyle, and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team. Umbaugh had a time of 28.09 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 1:05.57 in the 100 freestyle.
The 200 medley team of Hannah Hollander, Payton Vogt, Sarah Hollander and Umbaugh had a time of 2:12.04.
"Even though we have been losing meets we are improving greatly each one," Bode said. "We are tired, but dropping times."
Hannah Hollander had the other win for the Lions in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:34.55
Lynden falls to 0-3, 0-2 NWC and will host Squalicum on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
