The Lynden girls' soccer team lost in a Northwest Conference match at home to Burlington-Edison 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 20.
"It was a very close first half," Lynden coach Kirstin Salminen said in a phone interview. "There were chances on both ends. Lexi Smiley had a shot go right over the bar."
Burlington-Edison had goals from Edie Breckenridge, Carly Tolf and Kylie Hayton.
"We were frantic and couldn't control the ball very well," Salminen said. "In the second half we settled down but couldn't crete enough opportunities to get it in the net."
Goalkeeper Alyssa Olson had seven saves in the loss for the Lions.
"Holly McKinley was solid for us on defense," Salminen said. "She didn't give them any opportunities."
Lynden improved to 2-5-0, 0-4-0 and will play at Sehome on Saturday, Sept. 22.
