Hewitt's stop on PK helps Blaine tie Anacortes

Blaine goalie Anna Hewitt stopped a key penalty shot and the Borderites tied Anacortes 2-2 in Northwest Conference girls' soccer action Thursday, Sept. 20, at Blaine.

The result put Blaine at 2-4-1, 1-2-1 NWC.

Hewitt stopped the penalty shot in the 65th minute with the game tied at 2-2. She stayed in the middle as the Anacortes player kicked the shot up the middle.

"I think she read something," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "She was so focused today. She had a great game."

Hope Wilkett scored both goals for Blaine, the first one in the 18th minute and her second one in the 46th minute.
