Mount Baker falls to Friday Harbor in volleyball

Published: September 19, 2012

The Mount Baker volleyball team lost 26-24, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23 to Friday Harbor in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Mount Baker.

"I think we did a lot of things to beat ourselves," Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview. "We played in spurts with confidence and then would back off and hand them points by our errors."

Mount Baker was led by Abby Winterburn with nine kills, six blocks and three aces, Emily Yost with 10 digs and Emma Lallass with nine kills.

"I think the team found their stride and confidence to win the third game and got after it," LeSage said. "But in the fourth they didn't have a sense of urgency to finish it."

Mount Baker fell to 0-3 and will play at Lynden Christian to open the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 20.
