Wilkett helps lead Borderites past Pioneers

Hope Wilkett scored a hat trick for the Blaine girls' soccer team in a 5-3 Northwest Conference win at Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Wilkett scored in the 18th minute, 43rd minute and 54th minute for the Borderites (2-4-0, 1-2-0). Also scoring for Blaine was Nicole Statham and Liz Berry.

The teams were tied 2-2 at halftime before the Borderites scored two quick goals to open the second half.

"Nooksack came out strong, they have really improved," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "We made some adjustments at halftime. I am proud of the way my girls responded."

Scoring for the Pioneers (0-5-1, 0-2-1) were Anna Schorr, Brittney Passe and Morgan Perry.
