Bellingham defeated Lynden Christian in a Northwest Conference girls' soccer match on Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Bellingham.

The Red Raiders scored a goal in the 51st minute and held on for the win.

"It was an athletic struggle between two fast teams," Bellingham coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. "LC played really physically and it took us a second to adjust to it. We had a hard time winning balls in the middle, but when we controlled it we were really dangerous."

Courtney Hollander scored in the fourth minute to give the Lyncs the early lead.

"I was really impressed with Lynden Christian's physicality," Wright said. "But we are really excited to come away with a win."

Cashel Vincent scored Bellingham's first two goals followed by a second Hollander goal to tie the game back up in the 48th minute.

Mia Hodges scored the game-winner for Bellingham.

"It is really great to see Mia back on the field from an injury," Wright said. "Seeing her and Hattie North in the middle is a lot of fun. Hattie is playing at a phenomenal level, battling every second of every game."

Bellingham improved to 3-2-1, 3-0-0 NWC and will play at Meridian on Thursday, Sept. 20, while Lynden Christian (3-2-1, 1-2-0 NWC) will host Mount Baker.
