Western Washington University midfielder Brina Sych has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9-15.

Sych played excellent defense from her right-back position as the Vikings allowed just one goal in league road wins at Western Oregon (2-0) and Saint Martin's (3-1).

Sych also contributed offensively, scoring the first goal against the Saints and then being credited with an assist on the game-winning marker against Saint Martin's.
