WWU's Jackson named GNAC male athlete of the week in cross country

Western Washington University's Chip Jackson has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week for Sept. 9-15.

Jackson, a junior, took the UW Sundodger Invitational Open Division title with a time of 24:54.55 last Saturday at Lincoln Park in Seattle. Jackson joined four others as the only GNAC athletes to win the event.

Jackson was between 15th and 20th place at the mile mark and gradually moved past everyone ahead of him for the victory.
