Squalicum gets key doubles win to get past Anacortes

The Squalicum boys' tennis team defeated host Anacortes 4-3 in Northwest Conference action on Monday, Sept. 17.

The win improved the Storm to 2-3, 2-3 NWC while the Seahawks dropped to 4-3, 3-2 NWC.

The outcome came down to the No. 3 doubles match where Squalicum's Carter Nickelson and Liam Brownlie won 6-4, 6-7 (1), 7-5.

"I was very pleased with the doubles outcome," Squalicum coach Joe O'Brien said in a phone interview. "The pressure was on them and they came through."

The Storm also had doubles wins from Zach Hart/Aaron Morris and Drew Segren/Kevin Smiley. Squalicum had a win at singles by Tavo O'Connell.
