Vander Griend scores twice for Lyncs in home win

Lexi Vander Griend scored two goals to help lead the Lynden Christian girls' soccer team to a 5-2 non-conference win over visiting La Conner on Monday, Sept. 17.

The Lyncs improved to 3-1-1.

"It was a pretty solid effort and our girls responded well," Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview.

Mikka Jansma opened the scoring for the Lyncs with a goal in the fifth minute. Vander Griend scored her first goal in the 20th minute and added another goal in the 28th minute. Courtney Hollander, who assisted on both Vander Griend goals, scored for the Lyncs in the 42nd minute.

The Lyncs had 18 players in the game.
