The Sehome boys' tennis machine continued to roll through its opponents, this time a 7-0 Northwest Conference victory at Lynden on Monday, Sept. 17.
The win improved the Mariners to 5-0, 5-0 NWC while the Lions dropped to 2-3, 2-3 NWC.
"When you give Sehome any leeway whatsoever they will punish you," Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. "They not only played well they are good everywhere."
While the Mariners swept the singles matches with wins from Avery West, Nick Smith, Brady Anderson and Johan Lahud-Zahner, the Lions did give Sehome some trouble in the doubles matches.
Two of the three doubles matches went to three sets, including at No. 1 when Sehome's Andrew Bruce and Jason Newell defeated Jay Roper and Mikal Olson 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (2) and at No. 2 when the Mariners' Ben Carroll and Sam Humphreys defeated Luke Reardon and Toby Dalla Santa 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
"I thought our doubles responded really well," Ballard said.
