I believe Ferndale water problems are more dangerous to our community than anyone in our local government is talking about. Our community is based on the tremendous industrial community with which we are blessed. There is a reality that, over 60 years, these industries have pumped hundreds of millions of tons of waste and chemicals into our local atmosphere. We might wonder where they have come to earth, as they always do. I have experienced some of these results, I have a 24,000 gallon swimming pool at my home. Every time it rains, the acid rain effect on my pool is dramatic and requires immediate attention. This has occurred since 1987. I had a 1,000-gallon fish pond with about 40 10-year-old Koi and goldfish. I believe the change from PUD to the wells killed all my fish within a month. I believe these wells are contaminated. Will we see newborns disfigured and diseased? Will we get a clue? PUD takes its water from glacier-fed river water! Clean and healthy for all. Return our water to PUD and the river! Do not take a chance with your health and our children's health. Please think about this, it is one of the most important things -- "clean water" for all. My civil engineering education as a state-certified water plant engineer and a state-certified water treatment plant engineer means I know what I say. Please think about it for your health.
