Unhappy with ID rules for voters

Published: September 16, 2012

Why would anyone vote for the Party of No? I believe Republicans are against equal pay for women, worker safety, raising the minimum wage, regulating big banks, having the rich pay their fair share of taxes, most environmental regulations, free choice and access to family planning services, the science of climate change and the theory of evolution, Pell grants for students, food stamps and welfare for the poor and working class.

If these are not good enough reasons to resist voting Republican, here is what is, the denial of "one person, one vote." I find suppressing the vote to be the most galling of all. Suppression of the vote is the most anti-American, anti-democratic and anti-patriotic action a party can take. Voting for a party that has passed 14 state legislated, so-called voter reform/ID laws (read stop minority, senior and student voter turn-out) is simply anti-citizen and in my opinion, immoral and unjustified. Any law that is aimed at suppressing the vote is true voter fraud and should be prosecuted with a vengeance (not legalized to fulfill a political agenda). Voting is the cornerstone of democracy and a critical part of being an American citizen. Apparently, some don't want the people to vote, but are happy to take their money and give it to the rich!
