The Bellingham boys' tennis team handed Anacortes its first defeat Northwest Conference of the season with a 5-2 win Friday, Sept. 14.
The Red Raiders improved to 3-1, 3-1 NWC while the Seahawks dropped to 4-2, 3-1 NWC.
Bellingham had singles wins from E.J. Troutman, Charlie Carmichael and Connor Thompson, and doubles wins from Shane Miller/Chad Cheldelin and Emile Diffley/Chris Nakatani.
Despite Sam Ferguson falling at No. 4 singles for Bellingham, coach Steve Chronister said it was the best match of the day.
"The match played at the highest level was at fourth singles," Chronister said. "Sam and his opponent both played really well. It was two guys hitting the ball really well."
Bellingham plays a NWC match at Ferndale at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17.
