Bellingham defeated Lynden 8-1 in a Northwest Conference girls' soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 13, in Lynden.
The Red Raiders were led by Larkyn Nelson and Cashel Vincent, each with two goals. Kate Troutman, Brooke Baker, Hattie North and Sydney Wright were the other goal scorers for Bellingham.
Lynden's goal came from Lexi Smiley.
"It was great work by Lexi to beat their keeper one on one and being composed," Lynden coach Kirstin Salminen said in a phone interview. "I think we improved our play from our other game this week although it doesn't show in the score. We had new players in different positions, like Madison Wandel in goal."
Wendel made 15 saves in the effort for the Lions.
Lynden dropped to 2-3-0, 0-2-0 NWC and will travel to Squalicum on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Bellingham improved to 2-2-1, 2-0-0 NWC and hosts Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 18
