Volunteers wanted for restoration work at Little Squalicum Park

Published: September 13, 2012

BELLINGHAM - Volunteers are being sought to help restore Little Squalicum wetlands and creek on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The event is the first of many weeding, mulching and re-vegetation work parties at Little Squalicum Park being hosted by RE Sources for Sustainable Communities and in collaboration with the Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program, according to a RE Sources news release.

The area is an EPA cleanup site.

Saturday's effort also is part of Whatcom Water Weeks, which runs through Sept. 22.

People participating in the work party will meet at 9 a.m. in Little Squalicum Park, near the entrance from the lower parking lot of Bellingham Technical College.

Parking is allowed there. A map of BTC parking lots is online at www.btc.ctc.edu/General/Parking.pdf.

The park is on Marine Drive at Lindbergh Avenue.
