FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH
Avery West
Sehome, Jr.
In only two years of varsity tennis Avery West has established himself as the player every opponent is gunning for. West has a variety of ways to win matches. Not only will West be a contender to win districts, he should vie for a state title as well.
Lucas Reardon
Lynden. Sr.
Reardon proved his tennis skill last season with doubles teammate Nolan Wolffis. The two earned a trip to the Class 2A State Tournament. With Wolffis gone, Reardon should make a strong doubles team with one of Lynden's Dalla Santa boys.
Nick Smith
Sehome, Sr.
Smith would be the No. 1 singles player on just about every team in the Northwest Conference. With Avery West to compete with, Smith fits into the Mariners' No. 2 spot. After earning a singles state berth a year ago, Smith seems poised to make a deep postseason run once again.
E.J. Troutman
Bellingham, Sr.
Like Lucas Reardon, Troutman is without his state doubles partner from a year ago, but Troutman's skills and impressive physical stature stand on their own. He already was one of the top players in the conference last year and should be even better this year.
Aaron Morris
Squalicum, Sr.
Morris hasn't had a ton of success during his career in terms of wins and losses, but coach Joe O'Brien has seen steady improvement every year from this senior. Look for the doubles team of Morris and Zach Hart to battle until the end with some of the top tandems in the league.
