Taylor Lunde recorded a hat trick as the Meridian girls' soccer team defeated host Lynden 5-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Northwest Conference action.
The Trojans improved to 2-0-1 while the Lions dropped to 2-2.
Lunde scored her goals in the 14th minute, 30th minute and 36th minute as Meridian took a 4-0 lead into halftime. Emily Schwisow had the game's first goal in the sixth minute and Lexi McKinnon scored the Lions' final goal in the 51st minute. Abbi Rautenberg made five saves in goal for Meridian in the shutout.
"I'm pround of my girls for fighting from the first whistle to the last whistle," Lynden coach Kirstin Salminen said in a phone interview.
Meridian hosts Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Sept. 13, while Lynden hosts Bellingham on Thursday, Sept. 13.
