PREP GIRLS' SWIMMING PREVIEW: Ferndale Golden Eagles

Published: September 11, 2012

FERNDALE

GODLEN EAGLES

Coach: Julia Garrison

Last year: Finished third in the Class 3A Northwest Conference standings with a league record of 0-8 and was 0-9 overall. ... Did not qualify any swimmers for the Class 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships.

Swimmers to watch: Annalee Holmdahl (sr.); Katie McCormick (sr.); Alyssa Rankin (so.)

Outlook: The Golden Eagles have a strong mix of returners and newcomers this season. Of those returners, Ferndale is led by its two senior captains, Annalee Holmdahl and Katie McCormick, who, combined, have seven years of varsity swimming experience. Coach Julia Garrison said both are outstanding distance swimmers and will play a major role in the success of the team. "We are looking really good," Garrison said. "We have a good foundation to build from, and we are working hard and developing. We want to swim fast and have fun." Sophomore Alyssa Rankin is an up and coming swimmer. The Golden Eagles seem to be rebuilding but have the talent to improve on their record from a year ago. "We want to focus on teamwork, and we want to push each other every day at practice," Garrison said.
