I'm hoping that money will not buy this election and Americans will remember the facts, not be persuaded by the lies. Over the last 50 years, personal income has risen during periods with Democratic presidents and the national debt as grown under Republicans. These are facts. So why are many Americans convinced that Republicans can do a better job with the economy than Democrats?
During the last 30 years, income inequality in American has tripled, with the richest 1 percent now making 30 times what the average American makes. Both parties contributed to this (Clinton mainly by cutting the capital gains tax rate). One income inequality graph I saw showed the U.S. ranked 15 out of 20 countries in terms of tax inequality, between Malaysia and Peru. Now we are headed for a showdown vote in Congress with clear choices.
Obama's plan calls for tax cuts to expire for those making more than $250,000. Ryan's plan would reduce the top tax rate to 25 percent for individuals and corporations. Obama's plan would reduce income inequality; Ryan's would increase it. Again, what kind of future America do you want? Please look at the facts when you vote.
