Blaine forward Liz Berry scored in her third consecutive game, but the Blaine girls' soccer team couldn't match Granite Falls' offensive output and lost 4-2 in a nonconference matchup Saturday, Sept. 8, at Pipeline Fields in Blaine.
Trailing 2-1, Blaine midfielder Olivia Olason scored off an assist from Emily Roe in the 31st minute to tie the match at 2-2, but Granite Falls answered with a goal six minutes later.
The Tigers added another goal in the second half.
"I was pleased with how the girls played in this one," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "I thought the girls adjusted well and worked hard."
Berry, who recently made the move up top from a defensive position, leads the Northwest Conference in goals scored with five.
The Borderites begin their conference schedule with a matchup against Burlington-Edison at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Pipeline Fields in Blaine.
