PREP BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW: Ferndale Golden Eagles

Published: September 8, 2012

FERNDALE

GOLDEN EAGLES

Coach: Nick Carlson

Last year: Finished fifth at the NWC Championships. Finished sixth at the 3A Northwest District meet and had a runner advance to state.

Runners to watch: Connor Jungkuntz (sr.), Logan Jungkuntz (sr.), Joshua DeVenere (sr.), Madison Choat (sr.), Jacob Stocklass (sr.)

Outlook: The Jungkuntz twins are looking strong and are coming off trips to the state meet. DeVenere should give the Golden Eagles three strong seniors. Once Jordan Baron recovers from an ankle injury and strong fifth and sixth runners emerge, Ferndale should be looking pretty good. "We'll have a bunch of guys battling and rotating through that final scoring position," Carlson said in a phone interview. "When we get Jordan Baron up to where he was, and if we stay healthy and nail down that fifth spot, we have a good shot at getting through to state." Team depth will definitely be a key, as Ferndale turned out nearly twice its usual number of runners this year.
