BLAINE
BORDERITES
Coach: Carey Bacon
Last year: Did not have a team score at the NWC Championships. Had two runners advance to the 2A state meet.
Runners to watch: Tom Bradley (sr.), Eddie Fontes (sr.), David Shapiro (jr.), Danny Thorpe (sr.), Christian Sharp (jr.)
Outlook: The Borderites return both state participants from last year in Bradley and Fontes. "Tom is in phenomenal shape," Bacon said in a phone interview. "He had a really good summer, and I anticipate him having a solid year. ... Eddie hasn't had quite as much running of the summer, but we know that he will be in good shape by the time the big meets come around." Blaine has 18 runners out this season, thanks in part to four or five members of the boys' soccer team coming out. "They're buying in early, and I'm really happy with how they're working," Bacon said. Bacon said he expects the competition at 1A to be just as tough as it was at 2A.
