North Cascades National Park projects get nearly $52,000 in grants

Published: September 7, 2012

North Cascades National Park projects have received $51,750 in grants through Washington's National Park Fund.

The money will be used to replant the North Fork and South Fork areas of Bridge Creek; for educational brochures about bear safety; on programs that focus on providing park access to youths who otherwise wouldn't have it; for supervision of a youth work crew; and a scholarship program to allow rangers to further their education.

The grants were part of more than $300,000 distributed this summer to North Cascades as well as Mount Rainier and Olympic national parks.

Revenue for Washington's National Park Fund comes from fundraisers, estate gifts and other donations, and Washington state's national park specialty license plates.
