The Meridian girls' soccer team won its season-opener 2-0 on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Anacortes in a non-conference game.
The team was led by Lexi McKinnon and Taylor Lunde who each had one goal.
"Obviously Taylor and Lexi did well and the stats speak for themselves," Meridian coach Andrea Ames said in an interview of the phone. "But I think Emily Schwisow played a great game. She moved up into center mid from defense and did a great job preventing the ball from even reaching the defenders."
Trojan goalie Abbi Rautenberg had to make only one save in the game.
Meridian's next game is at Overlake on Saturday, Sept. 8.
