BELLINGHAM - Bellingham police are asking for the public's help in capturing a 29-year-old man suspected of breaking bones in his girlfriend's face.
Nathan A. Napolitano got into a fight with his 22-year-old girlfriend Saturday, Sept. 1, at their home in the 900 block of High Street. Napolitano threw a porcelain bowl during the fight, slicing a large gash into his girlfriend's face and breaking facial bones, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.
She was rushed to the hospital in a friend's car, and needed surgery and stitches. The victim also had bruises and scrapes on the rest of her body.
Her injuries were not life-threatening. She didn't inform hospital staff she had been attacked, Young said, but told police a day later.
Napolitano, who is 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, was in a relationship with the victim for about two years. They were living together at the time of the assault. Police don't know where he's been staying this week.
Police released a photo of him Thursday. Anybody with tips should call 911.
Napolitano has a history of domestic violence. In 2006, he was convicted of second-degree assault and twice violating a no-contact order.
