Learn about emergency preparedness Saturday, Sept. 8, in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - People can learn about the importance of preparing for disasters on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The event will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2925 James St. in Bellingham, and is part of "Give Life, Give Blood."

The blood drive is in honor of the armed forces and veterans.

All appointments for the blood drive have been filled, but people can go and learn about preparing for emergencies as part of National Preparedness Month.

The event is being put on by the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross, the church, and Puget Sound Blood Center.
