Published: September 6, 2012

The Sehome boys' cross country team finished with a perfect score in its season opening meet Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Sehome High School.

Conner Johnsen led the team with a time of nine minutes, 56 seconds, closely followed by Reed Henderson at 10:01, Kirby Overman at 10:02, Liam Toney at 10:11 and Josh Schacht at 10:17.

"The front three really pushed each other the whole race," Sehome coach Kevin Ryan said in a phone interview. "Josh really put in a great kick at the end to finish top five and give us that perfect score."

Meridian finished second with 45 points, and Sedro-Woolley had 81 points.

"We were pretty excited because we know that Meridian has a couple good runners and our boys ran well," Ryan said. "Even though it's still early, it's great to see the payoff from the work they put in."
