Mount Baker falls behind early in loss at Anacortes

The Mount Baker girls' soccer team fell behind early and was unable to recover in a 1-0 loss to Anacortes in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Sept. 4, in Anacortes.

Kelsey Graf scored in the fifth minute on Mount Baker goalie Jamie Johnson.

"It was a solid shot up and over Jamie's head," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "She was amazing for the rest of the game and really directed the players and had a lot of nice saves."

Johnson made 12 saves during the game to keep the score 1-0.

"The early goal really fired them up and they played hard the entire time and that was one of our goals," Ellis said.

Mount Baker next game is at home against Lynden Christian on Thursday, Sept. 6.
