SQUALICUM
STORM
Coach: Julie Clift
Last Year: Finished sixth in the Class 2A Northwest Conference standings with a league record of 3-10. ... Did not qualify for postseason and finished 3-11 overall.
Players to watch: Meghan Lowry (jr., OH); Mikayla Chang (jr., L); Caroline Wilson (sr., S)
Outlook: Squalicum graduated two strong athletes in defensive specialist Jasmine Vail and middle blocker Tori Eckhoff. The Storm was a young team a season ago but not this year. Squalicum again has two seniors with setter Caroline Wilson and Middle blocker/right side Kinsey Morris. A veteran like Wilson should help the rest of the Storm players, who are seeing extended varsity action for the first time, get caught up to speed. Squalicum has nine juniors, which gives coach Julie Clift older pieces to work with in nearly every position on the floor. Libero Mikayla Chang is a strong defensive player, and Meghan Lowry and Celia Larson give Squalicum an athletic pair of outside hitters. Atrina Gharai gives the Storm a sturdy presence in the inside as a middle blocker.
