Outlook: Kristy White's Mariners return everyone from its 2011 Class 2A State Tournament roster with an exception to two key pieces - outside hitters Alicia Ford and Megan Johnson. Kendra Thomas, Katie Becker, Alex Wilkinson, Koko Kauhi and Taylor Lyall all have had another year to develop, and White said their progression has shown during practice. Johnson, an All-Whatcom County player a year ago, is a big loss, but "mini Megan," as White jokingly called Megan's younger sister, Dani Johnson, gives Sehome a viable replacement on the outside. Lyall will also be counted on to add points. "Dani Johnson and Taylor Lyall have some big shoes to fill on the outside," White admitted. "I don't think they are going to miss a beat." White said Sehome's goal is to play one point at a time and focus on its defensive play to accumulate wins throughout the season.
