Hopes for real leaders to win elections

Published: September 3, 2012

We are soon to vote for local, state, and national leaders. I hope that we choose the real leaders.

My 30-year military career enabled me to make a close study of leadership and leaders (both military and civilian). As a result, it has become very easy to identify those who are real leaders and those who are fakes. Here's a rule of thumb.

In success, real leaders always give the credit to others; fakes always take the credit for themselves.

In failure, real leaders always take responsibility and get on with fixing the problem; fakes always blame others and do nothing.
