HIKING: Volunteers will help repair Glacier View Trail

Published: September 2, 2012

The Washington Trails Association is holding a work weekend on the Glacier View Trail outside of Ashford. The work party will be held Friday through Sept. 9.

Volunteers can work one, two or three days, helping to clear brush and restore trail tread. No prior trail work experience is necessary. Association leaders will provide tools and instructions.

Participants can camp for free at the trailhead. Also, Saturday night features an optional potluck. The association will provide burgers and volunteers can bring a side dish to share.

The group has done work on the trail in 2009 and 2011. The 2.7-mile trail is west of Mount Rainier National Park.

For their service, volunteers earn a Northwest Forest day pass. If they work two days, participants earn an annual pass.
