Western Washington University gave up two second half goals, as it was blanked 2-0 by Notre Dame de Namur University on Saturday, Sept. 1, in a West Region men's soccer match up at Koret Field, in Belmont, Calif.
The Vikings, who opened their season with a 2-1 loss at nationally No. 2-ranked Chico State, fell to 0-2-0 overall, while NDNU evened its record at 1-1-0.
"This is a very good team that we were playing against and we have to continue to get better at things," WWU coach Travis Connell said in a press release. "We sustained a few injuries and hopefully we'll get people healthy for this coming week."
NDNU's Armando Garcio dribbled through three defenders to score the game's first goal in the 50th minute. The Argonauts also scored in the 84th minute as Mikhail Wingate-Pearce found the net.
WWU begins a four-game home stand against Hawaii Pacific University at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Orca Field on Whatcom Community College's campus.
