Lynden Christian made use of its good team speed to grab a 39-0 victory at Omak on Friday, Aug. 31, as coach Galen Kaemingk returned to go against a program he coached for 12 years.
"We did a good job," Kaemingk said in a phone interview. "We blocked well. Obviously the defense played very good, not allowing a point. It's nice to come this far and travel so well and have such a good game. ... It was nice coming back to Omak."
Will Scholten scored a pair of touchdowns for the Lyncs, while Josh Friberg score from 30 yards out on a counter play. Levi Vander Yacht caught a 70-yard touchdown, Kaemingk said.
With the offense clicking, LC jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead, and the defense took care of the rest.
"The main thing this year is so much more team speed," Kaemingk said. "We're not as big this year, and speed is what we're all about. The kids really swarmed to the ball. Everybody played as a team."
