Says derogatory campaign ads set bad example

Published: September 1, 2012

I would like to tell President Obama that I am very disappointed to see the hateful and low-handed political commercials on television by both of our candidates for president. As a teacher I have a difficult time explaining to my civics class why these kinds of derogatory political ads are necessary. I try to teach that although you might oppose policies and hold differing perspectives this does not mean that it's OK to deride your opposition.

I hope the president will consider running a more respectful campaign and, as an incumbent president, ask voters to support you at the polls based on his accomplishments the past 3-plus years. It would set a good positive example to our youth.
