The Whatcom Community College volleyball team opened its season with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 loss to Tacoma Community College in non-conference action on Friday, Aug. 31, at Whatcom.

"It was a pretty good showing for us for our first match," Whatcom coach Jeff McDonald said in a phone interview.

The Orcas were led by Libby Moore who had 11 kills, Kathryn Bailey's eight kills and Karley Eggert's 16 digs. It was Tacoma's third match of the season.
