BLAINE - Road improvements on Marine Drive near the railroad tracks begin Tuesday, Sept. 4, and continue into October.
The work will take place from the Peace Portal roundabout west to the railroad tracks and 250 feet beyond them. Drivers can expect delays at the tracks, with travel possibly reduced to one lane.
Crews will add a sidewalk at the tracks and will repave the road. They also will add streetlights, retaining walls and a fence.
Most of the money for the project is from a $410,000 grant from the state Transportation Improvement Board, with additional funds from Blaine and the Port of Bellingham.
